Feeling very thankful for running right now. I don’t have a lot of specific goals for 2012, just to keep running strong. Last year at this time, I had a slow healing stress fracture that ruined marathon training and caused me to take months off. Now I am exactly 2 weeks away from running my first trail 50k! Happy New Year!
I’m a distance runner; I’ve been trained to keep going, even when it’s hard....

6 mile run this morning (8:33 pace). First time running on pavement in a while. I think that 50k training has made me slower, but I am loving it and my focus is definitely distance not speed right now.

2. Walking out the door is often the toughest part of a run.
3. Don’t make running your life. Make it part of your life.
4. Keep promises, especially ones made to…
Just went on an awesome winter solstice night trail run! It was absolutely pouring rain but warm out (in the 60’s), and the trails were SUPER muddy. SO MUCH FUN. Then we went on a tacky christmas light run through the fan and stopped to sing christmas carols at random people’s houses. Good times :)
winter solstice night trail run this evening :)

8.5 mile rainy trail run. I can’t believe that it was 55 degrees at 6:45 this morning when we started. Yay for wearing shorts in december.
Last week I went to a local group night trail run and ended up meeting a really awesome guy who is my new trail running partner! (It turns out he is training for the same 50k that I am running in January).
We had a really great trail run yesterday, this is the longest I have ever run on trails so far :)

Trying to characterize the typical advocate of trail running is like trying to give a small child a haircut or searching for fireflies during the day—you don’t get much cooperation and spotting them can be tricky. They are not joiners and they often run trails to get away from it all….

One month until my trail 50k race!
